Material and Care

The material.

Most laptop skins are flat vinyl. Ours is not.

Tella Skins are made from a crystal-textured PVC material with a micro-crystalline surface. What that means in practice is that the finish is not flat or uniform. It has a subtle physical depth to it. Light catches it differently depending on the angle, and the texture is something you notice before you even look at the design printed on it. It is the kind of detail that separates something that looks good from something that feels considered.

The matte element keeps the surface non-reflective, which means no glare under office lighting and no fingerprint smudging that shows from across the room. The crystal texture adds the dimension. Together, they create a finish that is unlike anything else in this category.

Every skin covers the full device: the lid and the complete keyboard area, including every individual key, trackpad, and palm rest. Nothing is left exposed. A matching phone skin in the same design is included with every order at no extra charge.

What it protects against

The material is water resistant, scratch resistant, and dust resistant. It will not protect your laptop from a serious fall, but it will handle daily life without complaint: rain caught on the way to a meeting, a scratch from a bag zipper, dust that accumulates over months of use. The surface stays clean and the design stays sharp.

How to clean it

This is easy. The crystal-textured surface does not trap dirt the way flat vinyl can. A lightly damp cloth is all you need for everyday cleaning. Wipe gently in one direction across the surface and it comes clean. For anything more stubborn, a small amount of water or a mild screen-safe cleaner on a microfibre cloth works well.

Avoid alcohol-based cleaners used repeatedly over time, as they can gradually affect the surface finish. A damp cloth is always the right first option and usually the only one you will need.

Durability

We will be honest with you here. Tella Skins is a growing brand and we are committed to improving our materials as we scale. The current material performs well in real daily use and the feedback from our customers in East Africa, where Laptop Skins Kenya has been operating since 2019, reflects that. It holds up. It stays looking good. It does not peel at the edges or yellow over time the way some materials do.

We are working toward using 3M vinyl in future production runs, which will raise the durability benchmark further. When that changes, you will hear about it.

Removal

The skin is designed to come off cleanly. When you are ready to remove it, peel from one corner at a low angle and lift slowly. No residue, no damage to your laptop finish. See our Application Guide for step-by-step removal and application instructions.
